Where We’ve Gone, Going, and What? A Renewal Message
Happy New Year, Chestnuts,
Here’s hoping your holidays have been surrounded with friends, family and good cheer. We have much to be grateful for!
As we look back over 2018 and where the Chestnut Group work was shown, your paintings of Middle Tennessee’s landscapes, waterways, and communities were displayed in several events this year: Warner Parks, the Cumberland River Compact, and a variety of works were shown at the Fort Houston show. Overall, we had three major opportunities and a couple of pop-up events. Proceeds from these events benefited our mission of saving land, historic preservation and education.
We’ve had two stellar visiting artists this year, Colin Page and Charlie Hunter. We offered twenty Paint Your Heart Out Workshops, held two Artists Forums, two Coffee Talks, had invitations to attend events from Plein Air Painters of the Southeast, the National Oil and Acrylic Painter’s Society and The Cumberland Society of Painters, and more. Your donations of art supplies helped students at Nashville’s School of the Arts. We are blessed with many opportunities to encourage and be encouraged in the Chestnut Group, and this is at the heart of our organization.
2019 will bring the new show with the Centennial Park and Parthenon in May and we will return to our biennial favorite, Radnor Lake, in November. I am really excited about this year! Rachel will be announcing our Visiting Artists for 2019 soon and for you newer members, the Visiting Artists Workshops are an opportunity to get great instruction from nationally recognized artists at a discounted price because of your membership, right here at home. Look for an announcement coming soon for new Artists Forums. We received many topic ideas from your fall survey suggestions. Survey results are posted here and linked on the Members Resources page.
Members, thank you all for the patience you’ve shown as we have worked thru learning our website functionality. Regarding renewals, we want you to know that we appreciate and value ALL of our members and their patience as we learn the attributes and tools to manage our digital asset and apologize if we offended anyone with a surprise message about expiration of membership today. This message was set when the website was built and went out automatically to everyone who hadn’t previously renewed since we were all set to expire at 12.31.18. Our memberships run on the calendar year, from January to December. If you have not yet renewed your membership, you will see a red advisory banner message at the top of the screen when you log-in that will enable you to conveniently renew. When you are ready, just click on the link in that red banner.
We want you there for all of the painting fun we will have in 2019 as we work to achieve our mission.
Finally, thanks to the efforts of many, the board of directors, all who volunteered, who attended paintouts and workshops, and our hard-working Rachel Blair. We are strong together!
Sincerely,
