We are in the Home Stretch for the Radnor Show

There are only 5 weeks left to complete paintings! Title block entry and painting submissions are due by midnight, November 1 – https://chestnutgroup.org/title-block-submission/

Please read carefully, the following specifics and links to all things Radnor:

  • Loyal patrons and Radnor lovers are dedicated to the cause and have shown they will buy Chestnut paintings. In 2017, 118 paintings were sold (including donated paintings), grossing $60,610.  Almost $25,000 was paid out to Chestnut painters.
  • Sure there’s the lake. But for those who frequent the Natural Area, the Radnor “experience” includes turkeys, turtles, owls, herons, ducks, geese, deer, otters, watchable birds, and other wildlife. A significant number of paintings sold in 2017 featured or included wildlife. See the Radnor Fact Sheet link below related to using photo references for wildlife paintings.
  • Betsy and I will check weather going forward into October and determine the best days for painting. Check email and daily posts on the Facebook Group page, where you can interact and follow activities on an up-to-date basis. Hopefully, one or both of us will be there.
  • Chestnut founder Kim Barrick will host a painting demo in October. More details to follow.
  • After the hanging of the show, a special preview for Chestnut members and their spouses and guests will be held Thursday, November 7th from 1-3pm. Too often members don’t get to see the complete exhibit of the work, so this will be an opportunity to see and admire the exhibit before the Patron Party when up to 40-45% of the paintings may be sold.
  • We will be accepting 100% donated paintings for the show as well. Please refer to the Fact Sheet on the Member Resources page of the website (see link below). This is a great way to have your work noticed and name recognized by art patrons.
  • Information cards about the show are available at the Visitor Center reception desk. Please stop by and pick up a few to pass out while painting on location.
  • The Fact Sheet is updated periodically and will detail all of the specifics related to the show including – submission numbers, subject matter, framing, title block submissions, drop off and pick up times etc – Radnor Fact Sheet Sept 27, 2019.
  • Volunteer sign-ups are ongoing –  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E084BAFAC2FA7F94-2019  A BIG thank you to everyone who’ve already committed their time!!
  • For The Chestnut Group to be welcomed by Radnor Lake staff and FORL to come paint in this treasured Natural Area, is both an honor and a privilege. Help us ensure that this opportunity continues for many years and hopefully many shows to come by reviewing and abiding by the Park Rules and Regulations – http://radnorlake.org/the-park/park-rules-and-regulations/

Betsy and I urge you to get out to paint, even if you are unable to join us during scheduled times. It is a wonderful time of year to be outdoors surrounded by this Nashville gem! Please let us know if you have any questions.
