Tula Telfair Artist Talk at Haynes Galleries

Painter Tula Telfair will give an Artist Talk at Haynes Galleries to discuss her sublime landscapes. Several of Telfair’s hyperreal paintings of far off, pristine destinations are currently on view at Haynes Galleries during the exhibition “Linden Frederick & Seven Contemporary Guest Artists.” During the talk, Telfair will speak about her artistic background, how she chooses her scenes, and her current approach & style, as well as take questions from guests. The artist talk will take place on June 20, from 6pm to 8pm. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be served.

Limited seating available. Email inquiries@haynesgalleries.com to claim a seat.

Telfair has received critical acclaim for her grand landscapes that showcase the terrain and environment of majestic locations like ancient icebergs floating in frigid arctic waters or rugged mountain peaks drenched in the red light of the setting sun.

During her artist presentation Telfair will take guests on a visual journey, beginning in the jungles of West Central Africa, where she spent the majority of her youth, and then traversing the globe. She will discuss the power of the landscape to inspire an artist. Telfair will also present her studio so guests can see the space where she creates. There will be open audience conversation— guests are encouraged to ask questions and dialogue with Telfair.

In addition to painting, Telfair has been a Professor of Art in the Department of Art and Art History and the College of the Environment at Wesleyan University since 1989. She’s served as Academic Dean of the Arts and Humanities and as Chair of the Department of Art and Art History. She earned her own degrees from Moore College of Art & Design (BFA) and Syracuse University (MFA). Her artwork is in public collections around the world. In 2016 “Tula Telfair: Invented Landscapes,” a monograph of her artwork, including luscious reproductions of her paintings, was published by Abrams.
