Summer Classes with Jim Himsworth
Jim Himsworth will be teaching 2 different weekly classes at Warehouse 521 this summer. Life Drawing and Painting with live clothed model on Tuesdays and “Learn from the Masters” mentoring class on Thursdays from 9:30-3:30 pm at Warehouse 521
Jim is a professional portrait painter and excellent teacher. Students that study with Jim progress quickly in their ability to see, draw and paint. Class size is small (limit: 6) and students receive generous personal instruction and guidance from Jim.
Life Drawing and Painting Class on Tuesdays 9:30 am-3:30 pm in June, July and August. Are you struggling to improve your drawing and painting skills – especially while working directly from the model? Jim will explain and demonstrate his alla prima method for portrait and figure study. You’ll learn to relate values, colors and edges, to see abstractly and to work more efficiently. Bring chosen medium, charcoal or oil paint.

Studying the Masters-Past or Current on Thursdays 9:30-3:30 pm in June, July and August. This has become a most popular class! Students are able to work on their own projects in any medium and receive instruction and guidance from Jim from start to finish! Many students use works from favorite master artists as inspiration, others paint or draw loved ones or favorite places from photos and others from still life or cast set-ups. This is a great class if you have been wanting to tackle a portrait of a loved one but need expert assistance, paint a favorite vacation photo or learn design, color and techniques from masters past and current in order to help you in your own artistic growth.
