Special Paintout Opportunity at Radnor Lake
American Eagle Day and Grand Opening of the Flighted Eagle Aviary
June 20th 4:00pm-7:00pm Radnor Lake Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Center
Hello fellow artists!
Apologies for the long message, but there is a lot of important information that needs your attention. In anticipation of the November Radnor Lake show, we have been invited by FORL (Friends of Radnor Lake) to help them celebrate American Eagle Day during the grand opening of the flighted eagle aviary at the Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center. For the first time since the eagles arrived in December 2018, the boardwalk will be open to viewing these non-releasable eagles in their new home. The aviary center is now occupied with one Great Horned Owl, one Red Tailed Hawk, one Black Vulture, one Golden Eagle, one immature eagle, and two mature Bald Eagles.
This is an excellent opportunity for us to take advantage of the potential media coverage and promote our show to those attending the event. Steve Ward and the rangers have great expectations that this celebration will be a huge success, and they are confident it will become an annual occurrence. There will be bird viewing, education programs and light refreshments provided for event guests. They are also anticipating news coverage as the Golden Eagle is the only one in the Tennessee state park system.
Specific guidelines and details are indicated below, but one significant component is that transportation for artists and their equipment will be provided by the rangers to the aviary from the Visitor Center and back again. This is a wonderful convenience for those whom may have mobility issues or difficulties transporting painting equipment up to the aviary.
If you are interested in joining us to paint, here are some specific details and guidelines to follow:
- Sign up here – https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E084BAFAC2FA7F94-eagle for the 3:00pm shuttle. Space will be limited to the first 6 artists to sign up, and they are to arrive no later than 2:45pm. As the van will be used commuting visitors once the event begins, this will be the only arrival shuttle time available.
- Shuttle returns will begin at 5:00pm for all artists and visitors back to the Visitor Center, and will end at 7:00pm.
- Artists may set up around the lake and near the aviary, not inside the building where there will be limited space.
- Artists not using the shuttle to the aviary can arrive whenever they wish. Let Betsy or Donna know you are coming so they can look for you.
We are looking forward to a great day of Radnor Lake appreciation!!! Stay tuned for many more Radnor Lake opportunities coming soon. Please contact Betsy or Donna with any questions or concerns.
