Sarah Clinton – Artist in Residence at Arcade Arts

The Chestnut Group Board member and (soon to be) Past Treasurer, Sarah Clinton, is thrilled to be one of the Artists in Residence at the historic Nashville Arcade!

Arcade Arts hosted their open call for the inaugural program last summer with a juried selection panel. Sarah and 11 selected artists will remain in residence until June 2025, hosting curated events, workshops and demonstrations as well as monthly art exhibitions at the Second Saturday downtown art crawls.  The goal of this program is to “create a diverse community of emerging and established artists who support and champion one another.”

The newly renovated Nashville Arcade is a historic structure- one of the landmark buildings that The Chestnut Group painted as part of The Preservation Society of Nashville’s fund-raising event last September.  The spaces on the ground floor are soon to be filled with retail and restaurants, and the upper level provides 12 rent-free working artist studios.

Sarah invites you to stop by during open studio hours, Monday-Thursday from 9:30am-1:30pm in Studio 60 (@sarahclintonart or text 609-751-1425 to confirm!).  You can also find a new exhibition in her studio every Second Saturday during the Downtown Arts District Alliance Art Crawls (@dadanashville) from 6pm-9pm.

The weather postponed January’s art crawl to this Saturday, January 18th from 6pm-9pm.  You are invited to come early from 5pm-6pm to hear the artists-in-residence talk about their work in their studios. Park at the Church and 6th street main Library garage and it is a short walk to the arcade.

Sarah has exhibited her own work, and also hosted guest artists and group exhibitions since the program began in October.  She welcomes members of The Chestnut Group to join her in paint-outs downtown and will be announcing sign ups for those events as the weather warms up!
