Radnor Recap and Thank You
Dear Chestnut members,
Bitsy and I would like to share our gratitude and issue this special thank you to everyone who contributed to this successful show.
Record number of participants: 76 artists took the time to visit, paint, frame, submit, and deliver their paintings to Radnor to be part of the show. We’ve never had this many artists participate in a Chestnut art show! It is very brave to display the pieces of yourself that go into these paintings, and it’s especially disheartening if they didn’t go home with someone this time. Please know we’ve been there, and we appreciate you!!
Total sales: $71,820, 45% to Radnor + 100% of the auction paintings, 45% to artists, 10% to Chestnuts. A total of 263 paintings were submitted by 76 artists. We sold 115 paintings (44%), 19 of which were donations. Every donated painting received a bid and was sold!
Chestnut founder Kim Barrick offered a valuable perspective for both the Friends of Radnor Lake and the Chestnuts, providing guidance and endless support. Thank you, Kim, for giving your valuable time and talents.
As treasurer, Sarah Clinton brought her expertise and calm demeanor into the mix which was vital to the show’s success. She tracked the financials and spent countless hours managing the details. Thank you for being reliable where it was needed the most!
FORL director Tina Corkum provided leadership that never wavered. Calm under pressure, she provided a solid and dependable foundation for the team. Thank you for being the trusted partner we can count on for many more years ahead.
Chestnut managing consultant Suzannah Green brought her expertise and competency to the team. Her behind-the-scenes leadership was key to the show’s success. Leading the promotional and marketing strategy on all email, website and social media channels; she was a consummate professional and pleasure to work with.
Ellen Parker Bibb and Jess Peoples took on some of the Chestnut marketing responsibilities and will manage the online show that will run November 15th – through December 15th. They assisted with the selection of images used in advertising and social promotion and attended meetings coordinating the marketing efforts. Thank you for the many hours spent managing our social media accounts, and for organizing and building the virtual show on our behalf.
Ed Routon and Dale Finley organized and coordinated the set-up and take down of the show, spending days and hours ensuring that the best space plan was put in place. Thank you both so much, the skills and positive attitudes your brought into the mix were appreciated by all!
As the president of the Chestnuts, Brigitte Hubbard represented us with her generosity and kind disposition. She was the composed and steady voice of reason, encouraging moral support and guidance. Thank you for being faithful and loyal, and the best friend and dedicated partner we needed.
Steve Ward and the park staff were professional, supportive, and welcoming to the Chestnuts. Steve and crew led informative aviary tours and provided after hours assistance for the full moon paintout. The ranger’s sheer enthusiasm for the park was awe-inspiring. Thank you for your continued support and partnership for many more years to come.
Some of the best patrons in Nashville are Radnor Lake patrons. They too are passionate about the park, and it shows. Their support, kind words, and heartfelt appreciation of the artist’s work was revealed once again in the show’s success.
An event like this one only happens with the help of every volunteer. We had all 58 volunteer spots filled weeks before the show. A huge thank you goes out to this special group – Ed Routon, Dale Finley, Terry Warren, Judson Newbern, Melody Hall, Pam Padgett, Olga Bankston, Margaret Cameron, Betty Wentworth, Brenda Coldwell, Brigitte Hubbard, Paula Frisby, Carol Hall, Sue Rosado, Matt Maynard, Barbara Watson, Suzanne LeBeau, Cathy Brooks-Fincher, Kathryne Burks, Lisa Fallon, JoEllen Thatcher, Elaine Allen, David Ward, Sarah Clinton, Faye Maynard, Carol DeMumbrum, Cynthia Townsend, Allison Thompson, Kristin Condurelis, Renee Bates, Michael Balsley, Anne Goetze, Peach McComb, Nan Gurley, Angela Powers, Lauren Fields, Sheron Garrett-Dickerson, Michael Poindexter, Deborah Pipes.
