Radnor Lake Sunrise/Sunset Paint-outs

Here is the schedule of dates for August and September to paint the sunset on Radnor Lake. The nice thing about a sunset or sunrise is that it’s different every time. So, come for only one or come to all! And don’t forget the bug spray!!!

Thursday 8/1 sunrise 5:53 sunset 7:52

Tuesday 8/20 sunrise 6:09 sunset 7:31

Saturday 8/31 sunrise 6:17 sunset 7:16

Tuesday 9/10 sunrise 6:25 sunset 7:02

Thursday 9/19 sunrise 6:32 sunset 6:48

Saturday 9/28 sunrise 6:39 sunset 6:35

Sunrise times are included for anyone interested.

Plan to arrive around 4 initially, and progressively earlier as the weeks go on, giving yourself enough time to set up and paint. Park in the east parking area off Franklin Pike, as the sunset is best observed from the east side of the lake. Walk along the Otter Creek Rd causeway to the lake, it’s a short distance and a paved road.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate and these dates will all work. Last minute changes or cancellations will be posted on Facebook as needed. Facebook will be the most reliable method of communication so please check the group page often.

There will be no need to sign up, someone will be there for the sunset paint-outs regardless. If you plan to attend, please respond to the Facebook post or email so we know to expect you.

The rangers are aware that we will be painting. The only requirement is that we leave the park within 30 minutes after sunset.

For those interested in capturing the sunrise, please note that the sunrise is best observed from the canoe launch area or dam walkway on the west side of the lake. Park at the Visitor Center parking area or up the hill along Otter Creek Rd close to the dam. At this time in the morning, Otter Creek Rd parking should be readily available and you will have a very short walk to a great paint spot.

Thank you for your interest in Radnor Lake and helping celebrate this amazing park as only we can!
