Painting the Greenways — A Heartfelt Thank You & Show Recap

Dear Chestnut members,

Ellen and I would like to share our gratitude and send out this special thank you to everyone who contributed to this successful first show with Greenways for Nashville.  The addition of this new collaboration adds significantly to an already fun and eventful year.

The Numbers

  • Participants: 45 artists took the time to visit the Greenways, paint, frame, submit, and deliver their paintings to McCabe.
  • Sales (in-person):  $22,810—45% to Greenways for Nashville (plus 50% of donated paintings), 45% to artists, 10% to The Chestnut Group (plus 50% of donated paintings). We sold 44 paintings which is 31% of all paintings entered. For our first show with this partner, we are very pleased and proud of these numbers.
  • Volunteers:  36+ (See below and please let us know if we missed anyone).

The People

A very special thank you to all who signed up to host paint outs and/or workshops in preparation for the show. Grant Lee Phillips, Denise Siegel, Kim Barrick, Pam Padgett, Judson Newbern, Jessica Lewis, Gayle Levee, Suzanne LeBeau, and Sarah Clinton. The inspiration, fun and the camaraderie were highly appreciated.

Thanks to Suzanne LeBeau for taking on the role of managing submissions by working with the artists and their Title Blocks to ensure all the details were in order before creating master lists and wall labels. Donna Brumbergs has long held this role and generously gave her time to help show Suzanne the ropes.

As Treasurer, Sarah Clinton brought her expertise and troubleshooting skills once again which were vital to the show’s success. She tracked the financials and provided daily detailed updates. Thank you Sarah!

Thank you Greenways for Nashville executive director, Amy Crownover, who jumped into this new venture with enthusiasm from day one and brought her extensive understanding of all things Greenways directly to our group. Her team of coworkers (Kathy Parolini, Jordon Howes, Karen Gregg) and volunteer extraordinaire Kate Parrish contributed significantly in their various roles!

Chestnut Managing Consultant, Lolly Brown brought her expertise and competency to the team. Being her first show with The Chestnut Group, she brought wit, intelligence, fresh ideas, and a willingness that highlighted her professionalism and care for our group. Her behind-the-scenes leadership was key to the show’s success. Leading the promotional and marketing strategy on all email, website and social media channels; she was an absolute pleasure to work with.

Thank you Jess Peoples for once again organizing, building, and managing the on-line show on our behalf. Sales have been brisk! Show is live through May 31, 2024.

Ed Routon and his crew, including Baird Dixon, Michael Poindexter, Virginia Ferrant-Iqbal, Judson Newbern, and Terry Warren, organized and coordinated the set-up and take down of the show, spending days and hours ensuring that the best plan for the space was implemented. Thank you so much, the skills and positive attitudes you brought into the mix were appreciated by all!

Donna Brumbergs, Ellen Parker Bibb, and Renee Bates hung a beautifully organized show.

As the president of the Chestnuts & my co-chair, Ellen Parker Bibb worked tirelessly.  She did the lion’s share of work & taught me a lot.  Ellen represented the Chestnut Group with generosity, dedication, knowledge, and kindness.  It was a true pleasure to learn and work with her!

Audie Johnson and the McCabe Golf Course staff were professional, supportive, and welcoming to the Chestnuts. Audie and crew were helpful and supportive of our every need and numerous questions.

An event like this only happens with the help of volunteers. A huge thank you goes out to this special group of 36 members that volunteered in multiple ways – Judson Newbern, Virgina Ferrante-Iqbal, Terry Warran, Suzanne LeBeau, Sarah Clinton, Renee Bates, Olga Bankston, Nancy Pauliukonis, Michael Poindexter, Mary Stone, Marie Maxwell, Margaret Cameron, Allison Thompson, Angela Powers, Ashleigh Suarez, Baird Dixon, Betty Wentworth, Bitsy King, Brenda Coldwell, Cathy Brooks-Fincher, Claudia Morgan, Cynthia Cook, Cynthia Duck, Daniela Popa, Deborah Pipes, Ed Routon, Elaine Allen, Faye Maynard, Jackie Rule, Jean Gauld-Jaeger, Kathrine Raymond, Kymberlee Stanley, Lee Ann Burney, Lisa Fallon, Donna Brumbergs and Pam Padgett.

We also want to recognize Bates Nursery and their contribution to the show.  Not only did their sponsorship help support the Opening Reception but also allowed more resources to be focused on promoting the show.

And lastly, we want to thank the enthusiastic and generous supporters of the Greenways. Their kind words, excitement and heartfelt appreciation of the artist’s work helped make this premier show a success!

It has been a real pleasure serving as co-chairs with such a wonderful, thoughtful and passionate group of people!

Best,

Stacy and Ellen
