Painting the Fork with Burgers and Dogs
Fellow Chestnuts,
I am writing regarding “Painting the Fork with Burgers and Dogs” on June 27. We are still planning to have the cook out at my home and I assure you we will take extra precautions to keep everyone safe as well as our food. It is not pot luck! We will have plenty of food so don’t bring anything except a smile and a bottle if you chose. It is BYOB if you would like any alcohol based beverages. Water, tea, and lemonade will be provided. You can wear a mask if you feel the need. Oh, we are not including spouses due to social distancing.
It will be outdoors on our patio and back porch. When you arrive at our home please walk around to the back where you will see everyone. You can get to the patio through the back gates from either side of house.
Leipers Fork is well known to many of you and for those who have not been to our “little hole in the wall” feel free to paint all around the village. We are definitely accustomed to people painting the area but please be mindful of driveways and going onto private property.
The Methodist Church is very old and would make a beautiful painting as well as the homes around it. It’s the first street to the right past Leipers Creek Gallery.
Our home is down Floyd Road where you can find big pastures with lots of tree-lined areas and Black Angus cattle. Also, down Bailey Road just past the village on the left is a great spot to find barns, creeks and pastures to paint.
If you are looking to paint a covered bridge you can find that straight through the village on Leipers Creek Road a 2-3 miles out of town. It is on the left and the prettiest red barn around is on the right.
Southall Road is where you can find the distillery. It has a very old building that has been restored and you can paint it from the road or ask and they may let you come in closer if needed. (Old rusty tin roof and log building.) Southall is near the Andy Griffith sheriff’s car and Dukes of Hazzard car. You cannot miss the vehicles! If you passed the cars you have also passed Southall.
Floyd Road is first road past the cars on the left coming into the village from Hwy 96. Our home is down Floyd and then turn left on first street Mauldin Woods Trial. Our home is first on the right. We are ¾ mile from the village so you can always park at our house and walk to the village if you like. Parking is difficult on weekends.
I am really looking forward to having everyone and I have one big favor to ask of you….Please!
We need to get a number of folks attending so we can determine the food amount. If we do not get a reply of yes you are attending I will assume you are not coming.
Please reply as soon as possible! “YES” if you plan to attend. Hope to see you!
