Mike Hernandez Workshop: Painting the Landscape in Gouache or Oil
Nashville artists are fortunate to have the opportunity to learn from California artist, Mike Hernandez March 28-30, 2019. He will be teaching a studio/plein air workshop hosted by Warehouse 521. . Mike is an expert in gouache, oil and acrylic painting. Currently he is a Production Designer at Dreamworks Animation in Los Angeles as well as a nation-wide sought-after workshop instructor.
If you are an oil or acrylic painter that is curious about gouache but not ready to invest in a new paints, this workshop will allow you to use the medium you are most comfortable with, while watching and learning how to use gouache. Many plein air artists find traveling with goauche to be easier and more convenient than oil while not compromising the ability to capture a beautiful plein air study.
In this 3 day workshop, Mike will cover the important fundamentals of composition, color relationships, lighting, atmospheric perspective, simplification and shape design through the use of gouache. This is a great workshop for any artist that would like to learn how to capture a sense of natural and or stylized lighting and color into their work.
