Jim Himsworth’s March Art Classes
Local artist, Jim Himsworth, has 2 new classes in March with limited spots available. Jim’s classes are small and students receive generous amount of personal attention. Under Jim’s guidance, students’s skills in seeing, drawing and painting improve each week.
Improving Our Drawing:
4 Tuesdays beginning March 12-April 2nd. Class hours are 9:30 am -3:30 pm.
Still struggling with drawing? This class is yet another opportunity to improve your drawing skills with Jim’s help. Whether you choose to draw from still-life, photography or the model, Jim will help you see like a painter and sculptor. You’ll learn to relate angles, shapes, planes, values and edges in whatever medium you chose (i.e. pencil, charcoal, chalk or paint).
Studying the Masters: Past, Present or Current.
2 Thursdays: March 14 & 21st. 9:30-3:30 pm
Every great artist was inspired by, and learned from, masters before them. Continuing in that tradition, this course encourages each student to study their favorite artist’s method or style through direct copying OR through imitation while creating an original, new work. Jim will help you deconstruct your artistic hero’s method and technique so that you might reproduce or incorporate that “magic” into your own works.
Bring your chosen medium and any necessary reference material, and Jim will provide personalized mentorship while you study your “master” from the past or present. Jim is able to help students in charcoal, pencil, oil, watercolor, acrylic and pastel.
