One Day Color Study Workshop: Saturday, October 13th, 9:30-4:30 pm    2 spots left

Here’s your chance to get a quick introduction to color study from life! You’ll learn to recognize color and value relationships and how to mix them. Jim’s use of a highly chromatic palette to achieve wide ranging and accurate color relationships enables the painter maximum freedom for color expression. You’ll learn to paint life-like colors based on observation and not on any pre-learned formula. www.jimhimsworth.com

One Day Edges in Portraiture Workshop: Saturday, October 27th, 9:30-4:30 pm.  1 spot left

Many artists overlook the importance of edges. They often have too many hard edges and almost no lost edges. This one-day class will focus on how and where to use hard, soft and lost edges. We will experiment with different techniques to achieve varied edges throughout your portrait study. We will work from the model. www.jimhimsworth.com

Weekly Classes:

4 week Still Life:Color 101: Tuesday Morning 9 am-12 pm, October 16-November 6th. 1 spot left

Do you love color but find it intimidating? This series of classes will teach you to recognize color and value relationships in the natural world and how to describe those relationships with paint. With Jim’s guidance, you’ll paint quick, fun and revelatory still life studies under varying light temperatures. You will learn fundamental color theory and how to efficiently mix accurate, “cleaner” colors.  Brushwork, palette organization and basic drawing will also be addressed. Feel free to work in oil, pastel, acrylic or watercolor.

2 week Copying the Masters Class, Thursdays 9:30-4 pm, October 25th and November 1st. 2 spots left

A great way to learn is through copying. Throughout history, art students have created master copies as a study-vehicle for understanding previous master’s techniques and methods. This is your chance to do the same… with Jim’s help!  Bring your best image(s) (digital or printed) and your chosen medium and let’s Copy the Masters!
