Join award winning artist Kim Barrick at her home studio in Nashville for a garden still life demo and art tour. Kim will share her technique, generously offering students how she creates her sophisticated color palette and uses her natural garden as inspiration. Observing Kim work as she talks brushwork, composition, light, and answers student questions will enrich and elevate your plein air technique. Never painted outside, or new to painting outside? No problem! Join other newcomers to take the courageous leap into painting in the great outdoors! Welcome to Plein Air 101, where we will spend a fun day of learning all about plein air painting, including everything from a short history of the plein air movement, to the ins and outs of gear & how to set up to paint outside. We will learn how to mix colors from a limited palette, how to ‘see’ outside as artists, and you will create your first plein air painting. Bring a sack lunch and bottled water. Join accomplished plein air artist, instructor and long-time East Nashvillian, Kevin Menck for a demo and instruction in Shelby Park. Kevin will share his approach and focus on the fundamental principles of painting including composition, drawing, value, color. 5. Watercolor Demo in Franklin

Join accomplished watercolorist Todd Saal for a day of painting in Williamson County. This workshop will focus on interpreting the landscape while painting outdoors using watercolor. He will explore different approaches to create more narrative and expressive paintings.
Todd will demonstrate the tools and methods of his approach to translating plein air subjects, as well as how to utilize the experiences of painting outdoors in your studio work.
