Bio
While I came to oil painting late in life, I can't remember a time growing up when there wasn't drawing paper and a pencil close by. Despite both parents being painters, I somehow resisted the impulse until I retired in 2012. After starting with life drawing classes, I was encouraged to try acrylics then quickly transitioned to oil paints. I was smitten! The Nashville area is blessed with studios, workshops and generous teachers and I have taken advantage of many opportunities to expand my painting journey. While most of my energies have been focused on figurative and portrait work, plein air and studio landscapes offer a wonderful challenge with the bonus of meeting and learning from my fellow "Chestnuts".
