Profile: Judson Newbern

Bio
My lifelong interest in creating art began with summers spent on the Outer Banks of N.C. where sky, land and water, combine to create a constantly changing experience. Taking watercolor lessons at age 10 started me on the path of painting that I picked back up on in 2015 upon transitioning from a career in landscape architecture. I had the privilege to oversee the planning and design of the Vanderbilt University campus for over 30 years. Engaging as a member of The Chestnut Group is proving to be an amazing resource. What motivates me artistically is the commitment to the lifelong pursuit of developing ever broadening skill sets for capturing subject matter drawn from Nature that speaks to all of us.
