Bio
While many know Grant-Lee Phillips as both a singer/songwriter and front-man of the group Grant Lee Buffalo, the California native’s first love was drawing. After 30 years in Los Angeles, Phillips and his family relocated to Nashville. Arriving in 2013, he and his wife, Denise Siegel, also an artist, were instantly taken with the beauty of their new surroundings, most especially the landscape of Williamson County. They joined Nashville’s Chestnut Group in 2018. This introduction to plein air and workshops would set him on a course of renewed dedication to oil painting. He enjoys working from nature as well as reference, with a particular attraction to the transient nature of the seasons and his rural Tennessee home.
