Special Aviary Tours at Radnor

Radnor Lake Rangers will give special tours for Chestnut members at the Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center on the dates and times below.  The expanding Aviary now includes five birds of prey.  During the tour, members will be able to take close-up photos, sketch, and/or paint these incredible non-releasable birds.  When possible, the attending Ranger will take at least one bird out of its aviary for closer view.  See directions and a brochure/map link below.  To sign up for one or more of the tours, email Ed Routon at erouton@bellsouth.net.

Directions to The Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center:

From the West Parking Lot where the Visitor Center is located (accessed from Granny White Pk.), take Otter Creek Rd. east to Hall Dr.; the Aviary is located at the end of Hall Dr.  The total distance is 0.8 miles.  (If you park on Otter Creek Rd. next to the Dam Walkway, the total distance is 0.6 miles.)

From the East Parking Lot (accessed from Franklin Pk.), take Otter Creek Rd. west to Hall Dr.; the Aviary is located at the end of Hall Dr.  The total distance is 0.5 miles.

Difficulty:  Otter Creek Rd. along the Lake is rated “Easy”; Hall Dr. is paved and rated “Moderate”; the last short section of Hall Dr. going up to the Aviary is steep.
