Paintouts Wednesday and Friday, Stones River Greenway
Four (4) Paintouts for the Nashville Greenways event on the Stones River Greenway, Wed. Aug 24th & Fri. Aug 26th!
We’ll start at the Cumberland River Suspension Bridge Wed. morning and end up at the Dam Friday afternoon.
There are lots of Sycamores along the Stones, especially the spots on Friday. Other points of interest are along all sections.
Come to any or all. (Please Read to the end.)
There will be ‘some’ walking at all of these spots, so try to keep your gear to a minimum. (This is also a bicycle trail, so wheels would work too).

1) Wed. 9:00 a.m. – Suspension Bridge over the Cumberland (Connects Shelby Bottoms and Stones River Greenways)
Take Briley Parkway to Two Rivers Parkway (Exit #10) just South of Opry Mills
Take Two Rivers Parkway about 1/2 mile to Wave Country & Metro Skate Park on Right (Restrooms at Wave C.)
Park at far end of the parking lot (close to trail)
(If you arrive late, park and follow the trail to the left which tunnels under Briley Pkwy and up onto the bridge.)

2) Wed. 1:00 p.m. – Heartland Park Trailhead (No Restroom that I know of)
From Wave Country above
Continue on Two Rivers Pkwy to McGavock Pike
Left at McGavock Pike for 2 blocks
Right at Fernbrook Lane
Left at Heartland Drive to Heartland Park Trailhead Parking
Park and follow trail on Stones River Greenway to the Stones River (pretty red bridge over River)
The trail continues a short distance to the Mouth (Stones R. empties into Cumberland R.)

3) Fri. 9:00 a.m. – Kohls Trailhead (Lebanon Rd., just West of Central Pike) (Restroom in Kohls)
Take I-40 East from Nashville
Take Exit #216C, Donelson Pike, North to Lebanon Rd.
Turn Right on Lebanon Rd. for approx. 1.5-2 miles to the Jackson Downs (Target & Kohls)
Park at the far end of Kohls parking lot
At this spot, you can follow greenway to Right (toward #4) or Left (toward #2)
The old green bridge has been restored and there is a log cabin hanging on the cliffs.

4) Fri. 1:00 p.m. – J. Percy Priest Trailhead (just below the dam) (Port-A-Potties here)
Take I-40 East from Nashville (past airport).
Take Exit #219, Stewarts Ferry Pike to the Right.
Turn Left on Bell Rd.
Turn Left again approx. 1/2 Mile (just Before crossing the dam)
