NEW PARTNERSHIP: Participate in Centennial Parks “Starry Night” Show – FACT SHEET

NEW PARTNERSHIP with Metro Parks’ Centennial Arts Center

SUBMISSIONS DUE: Monday, Aug 8

This is a long overdue union between Metro Nashville’s home for the visual arts and the region’s premier painters of Metro’s many beautiful parks. This year the Centennial Art Center is celebrating 50 years as Metro’s art gallery and visual arts teaching facility. We accepted the invitation by Creative Parks Nashville, creativeparksnashville.org, their fundraising group, to be a part of a special evening.

On Saturday, September 10, we’ll join their “Starry Night” event to provide around 25 paintings of any scenes from Metro Parks. This is our first step in exploring how to build shared programs with this Visual Arts link to the many creative avenues presented by Metro. See the Fact Sheet and please plan to join fellow Chestnuts for this special evening.

BACK GROUND :
Metro Parks’ Centennial Art Center (CAC) is a Historic Building located in the 25th Avenue North and Park Plaza corner of Nashville, Tennessee’s beautiful Centennial Park. Originally built as a swimming complex in 1932; it closed permanently during the unrest of the Civil Rights movement of the 1960’s. In 1972 CAC became the first Metro Nashville owned structure rehabilitated for “Adaptive Reuse.” It reopened in 1972 as an art gallery and visual arts teaching facility that includes painting and pottery studios. In 2022, Centennial Art Center will celebrate its 50th anniversary as a visual arts facility.  See the Visual Arts brochure.
