Suzie Baker

Suzie Baker is an accomplished artist with a BA in Fine Arts and Advertising. She has been published in various magazines more recently in Plein Air and Fine Arts Magazines in 2015. She has won numerous awards including “Paint Out Award” at the Telluride Plein Air Show and OPA National Juried Exhibition, Plein Air Competition, Plein Air Salon Competition with Plein Air Magazine – Best Sketchbook, to name a few, and this was her 2016 awards. She has studied with and influencedby Rob Lierace, Dan Gerhartz, Judy Carducci, Clayton J. Beck III and Jill Carver. She is a member of multiple organization including: OPA, American Impressionist Society and Laguna Plein Air Painters Assoc. Suzie teaches workshops throughout to share her craft. Our member Marci Hicks has had some personal interaction with Suzie having painted with her at the Telluride Plein Air Show and had this to say: Not only is Suzie an accomplished Plein Air painter, AND portrait artist, but she is one of the nicest people you’ll meet.  When having a conversation with her, you get the feeling that she’s really listening.  She’ll offer you good and constructive advice, and throw in a couple of favors as well!  In the short time that I’ve known her, she’s bent over backwards for me. She’s a kind, “giving”, artist and friend.

Marc Hanson

Marc Hanson, another accomplished artist, attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA where he earned a degree in Illustration. Marc is a Signature member of OPA and has earned countless awards for his art. Marc offers Plein Air workshops across the country and participants appreciate his “well thought out plan and progression.” Our member Ed Routon was fortunate to attend one of his workshops and when asked to comment said: “`”Almost two years ago, I attended a Marc Hanson workshop in Pontotoc, MS.  Marc’s lectures, his instructional demos, and his approach to coaching were great.  The workshop was extremely valuable to me, and I still use my notes and apply several of his exercise lessons to help improve my paintings and make them more impactful.  I consider Marc to be one of the top Plein Air painters in the country, and we’re so fortunate to have him come here to conduct two Chestnut workshops during 2017.”

To sign up for either of these workshops, please contact Rachel Blair at chestnutnews2@gmail.com or call at 615-504-7201
