Anne Blair Brown

Anne Blair Brown was born in North Kingstown, RI, and currently resides in Nashville, TN. She became a professional painter after years of working as a caterer and chef. “I needed to express myself on a deeper level. I went back to art school and things just took off from there. I was glad to trade the smell of onions for mineral spirits and to be covered in paint instead of avocado.”

Anne is best known for her cafe and street scenes. She is an avid traveller who paints on location often. “Whether a bustling cafe or a quiet, small town street, I am attracted to patterns and textures created from various types of architecture and landscape. Painting on location creates an intimacy with the subject that  just can’t be fabricated in the studio. It heightens the sense of immediacy and spontaneity, and that energy is translated to the canvas.”
