For a few months Friends of Franklin Parks and The Chestnut Group have been in the dilemma of deciding when or if we can continue on our present path to the August Raise the Roof fundraiser
They recently met to figure out what is feasible at this point given the events since February of this year that we all are facing. Our plans have been a moving target.
- The Covid 19 virus is still an issue and will be until we have a vaccine, so large gatherings are problematic, and in this case hundreds of people gathering for Raise the Roof. Decisions are first made by The Governor, Mayor, and CDC.
- The renovation of Harlinsdale Park structures is impending.
- And finally, FOFP moved the event to September the 26th, the time when Plein Air South is occurring. Both our President and our Chair for Raise the Roof are already committed to this event as I imagine many of our members are.
Therefore will need to postpone the event this year but will still continue to prepare for August of 2021
FOFP have offered us some alternatives to keep us in the public eye on their website:
- Virtual sale of our paintings
- Virtual Silent Auction
- Photographs of our members painting their properties
- Continuation of painting all seasons until the end of September
The paintings you have already created can be put to good use soon or kept for the 2021 event. This is giving us a chance to paint all seasons. We invite you to continue painting for 2021 Raise the Roof.
