The “Tennessee 10″

The Tennessee 10

The week of June 20th, 2011, 87 plein air artists from across the U.S. converged on The Adirondacks for a week of painting and comraderie at Paul Smith College. The event was another incredible offering put together by Eric Rhoads and his newly re-birthed “Plein Air Magazine”. The “Tennessee 10″ consisted entirely of Chestnut Group members including Roger Dale Brown, Lori Putnam, Pam Padgett, Bitsy King, Paula Frisbee, Jim Frazier, Beverly Ford Evans, Ann Cowden, Dawn Whitelaw and Sandra Harris.

All of these painters are seasoned and accomplished artists, but their experience with Rhoads and his co-hosts at the “Publisher’s Invitational” has been described as “life changing”, “extraordinarily incredible”, and the “experience of a lifetime”.  Ann Cowden Meador quipped “Each night we shared our paintings from that day and got to know a few more people just like us who share our passion for art. The vistas were spectacular and we spared not one minute in finding and recording these gorgeous views…….so many memories!!!!”

We can’t wait to see the results of this eventful week, and we congratulate the “Tennessee 10″ for representing Tennessee, The Chestnut Group, and the plein air style with such passion and grace. Congratulations to all of you!
